At Provident Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation our team of certified athletic trainers, along with our physical and occupational therapists, will work to keep your athlete performing at their highest level.

Athletic trainers collaborate with physicians to optimize an athlete’s participation in their sport. Athletic training encompasses the prevention, diagnosis, and intervention of emergency, acute, and chronic medical conditions involving impairment, functional limitations, and disabilities.

KEEPING ATHLETES IN THE GAME

When an athlete is injured, our athletic trainers help coaches and doctors implement treatment plans and techniques for healing injuries, and they help athletes to continue their sports careers when they have fully healed.

Depending upon the injury, athletic trainers may help bandage, tape, or use methods that allow the athlete to continue in their sport immediately. Alternately, they may work with athletes by helping them with rehabilitative activities, assessing them for the ability to return to competition, and noting any problems or progress the athlete is making during recovery.

Additionally, at Provident Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation our athletic trainers are on hand at local sports programs to evaluate exercises and the sport itself to make sure injuries are kept to a minimum.

Our athletic trainers evaluate the type of exercises and movements in sports to determine whether certain exercises or activities pose any potential risk of injury. They also work with coaches to create safe exercise regimens for athletes, and they educate athletes on avoiding certain pitfalls or activities that might easily result in injuries.
